| The Powerful, on March 8, 1992, made her final voyage to
NHL and was laid to rest at Loran C 45092.49/ 6180426 in 86 feet of water.
The Ann Moran towing the Anna to her final destination. She was pumped by firehose full of water until she could take water on by herself, and gracefully she went down.
Jacksonville Reef Research Team members Mike Barnes, Bonnie Barnes, and Debbie House descended soon after her sinking to find that she laid upright with about a 20° list to her port with her bow heading at 240°. The pilot house measured 65 feet in depth. There was no live bottom or fish to be seen, there was just a sand dollar or two on the sandy bottom. The bottom temperature was about 63º F, a bit nippy, but overall it was a beautiful sunny day, flat seas with 14 boats out there observing her sinking. There was an inscription on the Powerful's deck, "Another one bites the dust". The Powerful will be a new home for many fish and ocean creatures. Many thanks to the Jacksonville Offshore Fishing Club, the Captain of the Ann Moran, the captain of the Silver Dolphin, and to Jim and Peggy Barnes who photo-documented the sinking.
